Gently scrape any excess medicine off of the fabric with a soft-bristled brush. Be careful not to rub the stain in further. Once you have removed as much of the excess medicine as possible, shake the garment off.
Using a clean cloth, dampen the fabric in cold water. Gently blot stained area until the stain starts to disappear. Do not rub the area, as this could cause the stain to set deeper into fabric.
Create a solution using one teaspoon of mild laundry detergent and three tablespoons of white vinegar. Using a clean, white cloth, dip it into the solution and gently blot stained area. Let the solution sit on the garment for 10 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
Once the stain has been pretreated, put the garment in the washing machine according to garment's care tag instructions. Use a detergent free of dyes, colors, and perfumes to avoid further fading. When finished, air-dry the garment.
Once the garment is fully dry, check to make sure the stain has been completely removed. If the stain is still present, repeat steps 1-4 and use a stain remover for tougher stains. Use a prewash product or a product specifically designed for treating medicinal stains.
