What is Jacquard Fabric?

Jacquard fabric is a type of intricate woven fabric that has been popular since the early 1800s. It features a "do-it-yourself" weaving technique that allows you to create intricate designs and patterns. This fabric is commonly used to make clothing, bedding, and other household items. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to clean if it becomes stained with medicine.

Removing Stains with Detergent and Water

The first step to removing medicine stains from a jacquard fabric is to mix a solution of detergent and water. Use a mild detergent, such as a liquid hand soap or a specialty fabric cleaner, and mix it in lukewarm water. If the stain is particularly stubborn, you can also use a bit of white vinegar mixed with detergent solution.

Once the solution is mixed, gently dab the stain with a lint-free cloth. Do not rub fabric, as this may further damage the material. Gently blot area with the cloth until the stain begins to fade. You may need to repeat this process several times before stain is completely gone.

Removing Stains with an Oxi-Clean Solution

If stain still remains after using the detergent solution, you can try using a special oxygen-based carpet cleaner like Oxi-Clean. Mix one scoop of the cleaner with two cups of water and dip a stiff-bristled brush into the solution. Using gentle circular motions, work the solution into the stained area of fabric. Allow the solution to sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.

Once the solution has been rinsed off, allow the fabric to air dry. If the stain is still present after drying, you may need to repeat the process. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for the best results.

Tips for Preventing Medicine Stains on Fabric

  • Always read the label before applying any medication to your skin.
  • When applying topical medications, wear an old shirt or wrap yourself in a towel.
  • Be careful when handling spills. Immediately blot up any excess liquid with a paper towel rather than rubbing it into the fabric.
  • Use a spill guard or waterproof pad underneath any containers of medication or hygiene products.

With these tips in mind, you'll be able to keep your Jacquard fabric looking its best.
