What You’ll Need

  • Cold water
  • Mild soap, such as castile soap or baby shampoo
  • A soft brush
  • White vinegar
  • A clean cloth

Steps to Clean

  1. Start by soaking fabric in cold water for 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. Gently mix in a bit of mild soap and lightly agitate fabric with a soft brush.
  3. Rinse the fabricated several times until the soapy water is gone.
  4. Now, pour a small amount (~ 1/4 cup) of white vinegar into sink (or bowl) and submerge the fabric in the vinegar.
  5. Let it soak for 15 to 20 minutes.
  6. Remove the fabric and rinse again with cold water until the vinegar smell is gone, then dry with a clean cloth.

Prevent Future Staining

  • If possible, hand-wash the Irish crochet fabric with cold water and a mild soap.
  • Avoid exposing the fabric to strong colors or direct sunlight, as this can cause discoloration.
  • Only use mild detergents and never bleach.
  • Allow fabric to air dry after washing.
