The first step towards getting rid of medicine stains is scraping off the excess medicine with a dull knife or a spoon. For adhesive medicines and ointments, it's best to use a spoon, whereas for non-adhesive medicines, a dull knife works better. Once you are done scraping off the excess medicine, place the fabric in cold water for about 10 minutes.
The second step is pre-treating any remaining residue with oxygen-based stain remover. This is an effective way to remove stains as stain remover helps to dissolve the medicines that may be present on the fabric. Once the pre-treatment is done, you can either hand wash or machine wash the fabric using warm water.
Finally, the last step is to machine wash the fabric with detergent and vinegar. This technique helps to break down the medicines' residue and makes it easier to remove. Make sure to add a cup of white vinegar to machine and run it on a regular cycle. After this, you can hang the fabric to dry and repeat the same process, if needed.
