Things You'll Need

  • Soft-bristled brush
  • Laundry detergent
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Vinegar
  • Clean cloth

Removing Medicine Stains from Duchesse Lace

  1. Use a soft-bristled brush to scrape off any dried or caked-on residue from stain. Do not rub or scrub the fabric too hard, as this can distort the delicate fibres in the lace.
  2. Mix one part laundry detergent with four parts warm water to form a soapy solution. Dip a cloth in the solution and dab it on the stained area until it is saturated.
  3. Rinse soapy solution out with a fresh, clean cloth dipped in plain warm water.
  4. Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with four parts warm water, and apply the mixture to stained area with a cloth.
  5. Let the hydrogen peroxide solution sit on the stain for 10 minutes.
  6. Rinse the solution out with a fresh, clean cloth dipped in plain warm water.
  7. Soak the stained area in one cup of vinegar mixed with one cup of warm water for one hour.
  8. Rinse the vinegar solution out with a fresh, clean cloth dipped in plain warm water.
  9. Air dry the garment.

Tips

  • If the stain persists after one attempt at cleaning, try repeating steps one through eight until stain is completely removed.
  • If the stain is still not removed after two attempts, take garment to a professional dry cleaner.
  • Always test all cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous area of the fabric first to make sure they don’t cause any damage.
