Medical treatments can sometimes leave behind painful reminders in the form of dried and stubborn stains on our clothes. If your cotton twill garments have been stained by medication, don't worry – we have a few simple steps for you to follow so you can get your items looking like new.

What You’ll Need

  • Dish-washing liquid
  • Vinegar
  • Borax
  • Soft brush/old toothbrush
  • Clean cloth/paper towels
  • Up to 5 color-safe bleach packets (optional)

Instructions

  1. Before you begin, check the care label of your fabric for any extra instructions.
  2. Mix 1 tablespoon of dish-washing liquid and 1 teaspoon of vinegar in a bowl of cold water.
  3. Soak affected area in the solution for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Take garment out of the solution and gently scrub it with the soft brush or old toothbrush to remove any remaining stains.
  5. Rinse the fabric with cold water.
  6. Make a paste of 1/2 cup borax and 1/2 cup cool water. Apply the paste directly on the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  7. Rinse fabric with cold water and dry it with a clean cloth or paper towels.

If the stains remain after following these steps, you may need to use color-safe bleach. Dissolve up to 5 packs of color-safe bleach in 500 ml of warm water. Soak the item for no more than 10 minutes and rinse with cold water before drying.

Conclusion

Cleaning medicine stains from cotton twill is easier than you think! Follow the steps outlined above and you can have your garments looking like new in no time.
