What You’ll Need

The following items will be necessary for removing medicine stains from charmeuse fabrics:

  • Sink or small bucket
  • Cold water
  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Toothbrush or an old soft-bristled brush

Instructions

  1. First, fill a sink or bucket with cold water and add a few drops of dish soap. Soak the stained clothing item in soapy water for up to 30 minutes.
  2. Rinse off the clothing item using warm water.
  3. Create a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and water. Soak the stained area in the vinegar-water mixture for up to 30 minutes.
  4. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush or brush to scrub the stained area gently.
  5. Rinse off the clothing item once again with warm water.
  6. Finally, hang the clothing item up to dry completely.

Additional Tips

  • If the stain is still present after following the steps above, you may want to try pre-treating the area with a spot cleaner or a laundry detergent before washing the item as normal.
  • Be sure to test any spot cleaner or laundry detergent on a hidden area of the garment first in order to ensure that it won't damage the material.
  • Be sure to always check the care label on the garment to make sure that you're using the proper cleaning methods.
