What to do First
The first step to removing medicine stains from your cardigan is to act quickly. Soak the area of the garment that has been stained with cold water for about 30 minutes. This will prevent the stain from setting and becoming more difficult to remove.
What You'll Need
In addition to cold water, there are a few items you'll need to get rid of the medicine stain. These include a cloth, a mild detergent, hydrogen peroxide and white vinegar. Make sure to have all of these items near you before you begin.
Steps to Remove Medicine Stain
- Mix together one tablespoon of mild detergent and two cups of cold water.
- Soak the affected area of cardigan in the mixture for about 30 minutes.
- Rinse the garment with cold water.
- If the stain remains, mix together two parts hydrogen peroxide and one part white vinegar.
- Using a cloth, gently blot the stain with mixture.
- Let the mixture sit on stain for about five minutes.
- Rinse the garment with cold water.
- Repeat steps 4-7 if the stain persists.
- Air dry the cardigan.
Additional Tips
- Check care instructions on the label of your cardigan before you begin any cleaning process.
- Always test any cleaning product first on an inconspicuous area of the garment to make sure it won't cause any damage.
- When rinsing the garment, make sure to rinse out the cleaning solution completely. Any residue left in the garment could cause damage.
