Things You'll Need

  • Mild detergent
  • Soft cloth
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda

Step 1: Scrape off Excess Medicine with a Soft Cloth

Using a soft cloth and light pressure, scrape the surface of the backpack to remove any chunks or clumps of medicine. Make sure to use a gentle and even pressure so as not to damage the material of the backpack.

Step 2: Pre-Treat the Stain with Vinegar and Baking Soda

Mix together some white vinegar and baking soda to form a thick paste. Apply the paste to the stained area and let sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, gently scrub the area with a soft cloth and then rinse with warm water. If needed, repeat the process until the stain is eliminated.

Step 3: Wash the Backpack with a Mild Detergent

Fill a sink or large bowl with lukewarm water and add a small amount of mild detergent. Submerge the affected area of the backpack into the soapy water and gently agitate. Let backpack soak for at least 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Step 4: Hang to Dry

Lay backpack out flat on a towel and then hang up to dry. Make sure to choose a spot with good air circulation so that it will dry quickly and evenly.

Tips

  • Always check the care label of your backpack before attempting to clean any stains.
  • Be sure to use cold or lukewarm water, as hot water can damage certain fabrics.
  • Always test out cleaning solutions on a small area of backpack before applying them to the entire stain.
