Getting medicine stains out of any type of fabric can be tricky, but cleaning medicine stains from ASICS shoes is doable if you follow these steps:
- Before cleaning, always check the tag on shoes to determine if the stain is water-based or oil-based. Knowing this will tell you which cleaning method to use and what materials to avoid.
- If the stain is water-based, create a mixture of 1 part cold water and 1 part white vinegar in a bowl. Dip a cloth into the mixture and wring it out so it's damp, not wet, then gently rub the stain with the cloth.
- For an oil-based stain, cover the stained area with a generous amount of cornstarch. Allow the cornstarch to rest on stain for 15 to 30 minutes, then brush off the powder.
- Next, mix together a solution of 1 tablespoon of mild liquid detergent with 1 quart of warm (not hot) water, then dip a clean cloth into the mixture and wring it out until damp. Rub stained area with the damp cloth, working from outside of the stain in toward the center.
- Once the stain has been removed, rinse the area with cold water. Blot the area dry with a clean cloth or sponge and allow to air dry completely.
The key to getting medicine stains out of ASICS shoes is to act quickly, so that the stain has less of an opportunity to set. Use the right cleaning product and technique corresponding to the type of stain and you’ll have your shoes looking like new in no time!
