For any stain, it's important to pre-treat prior to laundering. Start by blotting up any excess material from the fabric. If the stain is more stubborn, you can use a small amount of a mild dish-washing detergent mixed with a few drops of water. Gently rub detergent solution into fabric and then let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing with warm (not hot) water.
Once the stain has been pre-treated, it's time to soak. Fill a clean sink or bucket with lukewarm water, then add a small amount of a mild detergent designed for delicate fabrics. Make sure the detergent is completely dissolved in the water before adding your alpaca. Let fabric soak for at least 30 minutes - longer if stain is particularly stubborn.
Once the stain has soaked long enough, gently agitate the fabric in the soapy water to remove the remaining stain. Rinse the fabric in cold water until all traces of detergent are gone. Finally, hang alpaca to air dry or tumble dry on a low setting.
