What You'll Need
- White vinegar
- Borax powder
- Oxygen-based bleach detergent
- Towels or cloths
- Washing machine
Instructions
- Soak: Soak your dress in a large bowl or basin of cold water for about an hour. This will help loosen the stain.
- Mix: Create a solution of white vinegar, borax powder and oxygen-based bleach detergent. Use a ratio 1:1:1. Stir the mixture until it is well-blended.
- Apply: Apply solution to the stained area and let it sit for about 15 minutes.
- Wash: Place your dress in the washing machine on a delicate cycle using cold water. Don’t forget to double check the care label on your dress to make sure you’re using best setting.
- Dry: Air dry your dress on a flat surface away from direct sunlight.
Tips & Tricks
- For tough stains, try creating a thick paste of borax powder and water and then apply directly to the stained area. Allow the paste to sit for at least 30 minutes before washing.
- If you’re short on time, try using a stain remover spray such as OxiClean. Simply spray directly onto the stained area and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
- If you’re unable to remove the stain completely, try using a fabric marker in a colour that matches your dress. This will cover up the stain and make it less noticeable.
