Things You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Rag or sponge
  • Laundry detergent
  • Salt
  • Cold water

Steps to Follow

  1. As soon as the mayonnaise has been spilt on your garment, scoop out the excess with a spoon or rag.
  2. Next, take a rag and add some white vinegar to it. Then gently dab the stain with rag and let the vinegar set in for 5 minutes or so.
  3. Use a mild soap and rinse the stained area with cold water. Rinse area until stain fully fades away.
  4. In case the stubborn stain still remains, then sprinkle some salt over the stain and leave it for half an hour.
  5. After 30 minutes, brush off the salt and apply a fabric stain remover, following the instructions on the label. Let it set for 15 minutes.
  6. Finally, rinse the fabric with cold water and wash it in a washing machine with the same color clothes.

Additional Tips

  • Always try to treat the stain as soon as possible. The longer stain sits, the harder it will be to remove it.
  • Use a soft bristled brush to scrub the stain away as it won't damage delicate wool fabric.
  • Make sure you use a wool-friendly laundry detergent to avoid any fabric damage.
  • Always wash the stained cloth separately from the other laundry.
  • Do not dry the cloth in a dryer. Air-dry it instead.
