Fortunately, mayonnaise stains can be removed fairly easily if caught as soon as possible. The longer the stain has been on fabric, the tougher it will be to remove. Act quickly and follow steps below for the best removal:

  • Scrape off any excess mayonnaise.
  • Do not rub or scrub the stain – this will only cause it to worsen.
  • Blot the area with a damp cloth to absorb any left over mayo.
  • Mix some warm water with a bit of detergent and apply mixture directly onto the stain.
  • Gently work the detergent into the stain.
  • Rinse area with cool water.
  • If the stain is still present, repeat the process.

Note that harsh chemicals should be avoided when treating mayonnaise stains because they can damage the delicate fabric of Tencel. Always test the solution on an inconspicuous part of the fabric to make sure it won't cause discoloration or other damage.

Once stain is removed, it's important to air dry Tencel fabric. Heat, like from a clothes dryer, can set the stain, causing it to be much harder to remove.

These easy steps can save your Tencel from nasty mayonnaise stains. Keep them handy in case of an emergency and you'll be able to restore your fabrics in no time.
