How to Get Rid of Mayonnaise Stains from Your Tank Top for Good

What You'll Need

• Mild detergent
• White vinegar
• Large bowl
• Cloth or sponge
• Baking soda
• Stain remover

Step 1: Pre-treat the Stain

Start by pre-treating the stains with a mild detergent. Make sure to use one that is made for delicates and meant for hand-washing. Take a small bowl and combine 2 tablespoons of mild detergent and 2 cups of warm water. Mix together until sudsy then dip in a cloth or a sponge and apply mixture directly to the stain. Leave it to sit for about 10 minutes.

Step 2: Apply White Vinegar

After the 10 minutes are up, rinse the detergent off. Then, take a bowl, fill it with 2 cups of white vinegar and 2 cups of warm water. Dip a cloth in the mixture and blot it onto stain area. Make sure to not scrub it too hard as it will cause the stain to set further in the fabric. Let it sit for another 10 minutes.

Step 3: Add Baking Soda

Once the 10 minutes are up, rinse the vinegar off and then sprinkle some baking soda onto the stain. Let it sit for 5 minutes then take a cloth and gently work the baking soda into the stain. Once you have done this, rinse the baking soda off.

Step 4: Use Stain Remover

If stain is still present, use a stain remover specifically made for removing mayonnaise stains. Follow the instructions on the package and then rinse off once you are done.

Step 5: Wash the Tank Top

Place the tank top in the washing machine and wash normally. After cycle is through, let it air dry or lay it flat to dry.
