It happens to the best of us: you use a little too much mayo on your sandwich and, before you know it, a glob of it is stuck onto your favorite sweater. But don't worry—mayo stains don't have to be permanent. In fact, there is an easy way to get those unsightly messes off your sweaters in no time.

What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • A few drops of liquid dish soap
  • Cold water
  • A clean rag
  • A spoon
  • Baking soda (optional)

Steps to Follow

  1. Using the spoon, scoop off any visible mayonnaise from the fabric of the sweater.
  2. Mix together a solution of white vinegar and cold water in a bowl. If you want, you can add a few drops of liquid dish soap as well.
  3. Soak the stained area of the sweater in vinegar solution for about an hour.
  4. Once the hour is up, take the stained area of the sweater and rub gently with the rag. Keep adding more of the vinegar solution if needed.
  5. After that, rinse the area of the sweater with cold water. If needed, you can use baking soda to help lift the stain. Just mix it with a little water and rub it into the stain.
  6. When finished, hang the sweater up to dry in a warm, dry place.

And that's it! With these simple steps, you can easily remove mayonnaise stains from your favorite sweaters.
