Preparing the Stain

  • Start by scraping off any excess mayonnaise with the back of a spoon.
  • Gently dab the stain with a cloth or paper towel.
  • Do not wipe the stain in a circular motion, this will spread it out.
  • Turn your garment inside out and gently dab the back of the stain.

Removing the Stain with Solvents

  • If the stain is still present, you can try using a solvent like rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.
  • Dip a cotton swab into the solvent, but make sure it’s not dripping wet.
  • Gently blot the cotton swab onto the part of the fabric that’s stained.
  • You may have to repeat this step a few times before stain disappears.
  • Finally, rinse the fabric thoroughly with cold water.

Other Methods of Stain Removal

  • White vinegar and dishwashing liquid can also help to remove mayonnaise stains from silk satin.
  • Mix together two parts white vinegar and one part dishwashing liquid.
  • Pour the mixture onto the stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  • Afterwards, rinse the fabric with cold water.

Washing Instructions

  • Once the mayonnaise stain is gone, you can put the fabric in the washing machine.
  • Use the gentle cycle and the coldest setting.
  • You can also add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the wash cycle to further remove any lingering odor.
  • When the cycle ends, hang fabric up to air dry.
