Start by dabbing stain with a clean, white cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of the mayonnaise as possible. Next, mix up a cleaning solution by combining warm water and a mild detergent in a bowl. Dip a clean cloth into the solution and wring it out gently before applying to stained area. Blot with the damp cloth until the stain begins to lift. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing at stain, as this can damage fabric.

Once the mayonnaise is gone, rinse the affected area with cold water to remove the cleaning solution. As a final step, blot the wet area with a dry cloth to help lower the drying time.

For more stubborn stains, try mixing 1 tablespoon white vinegar with 2 cups of cool water in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture onto the stain and let it sit for 5 minutes before rinsing with cold water, then blot with a dry cloth.

If these techniques don’t do the trick, it’s best to leave the stain removal process to the professionals. Spot cleaning at home can end up making the stain worse, so try taking the garment to a dry cleaner for a thorough cleaning.
