Silk dupioni is a luxurious and expensive fabric that is often used in clothing and home decorating items. Unfortunately, this type of fabric can be easily ruined if it is exposed to certain liquids or oils, such as mayonnaise. So, if you have a piece of silk dupioni that has a mayonnaise stain, you'll need to take special care to get it out.
Before you attempt any kind of cleaning on your stained fabric, you'll want to blot up as much of the excess mayonnaise as possible. This can be done with paper towels or clean cloths. The important thing is that you don't rub stain, as this could cause it to spread and become more difficult to remove.
Once the excess liquid has been blotted up, you'll want to make a solution consisting of equal parts lemon juice and vinegar. This solution can then be applied directly to the mayonnaise stain with a cotton swab. Let the solution sit for 10-15 minutes before moving on to the next step.
After the solution has had a chance to work on stain, it's time to rinse the area with cold water. Make sure to use cold water as hot water can cause stain to set in. You can also use a mild detergent if you feel like it is needed. Once the area has been rinsed, blot it again with paper towels or a cloth to absorb moisture.
Once all the moisture is absorbed from the fabric, it's time to let it air dry. Do not put the fabric in the dryer, as this could cause the stain to set in further and become almost impossible to remove.
