The first step in any stain removal process is to blot the stain with a clean cloth or piece of paper towel. Make sure to use a white cloth so that the color does not transfer onto material. Press the cloth or paper towel firmly against the stain, being careful not to rub or further spread the stain.
Once the stain has been blotted, make a solution using warm water and a mild laundry detergent. Use a cloth to apply this solution directly to the stained area in gentle scrubbing motions. You should allow the solution to sit on the stain for a few minutes before attempting to blot it again.
After the pre-treatment solution has been applied and allowed to sit, rinse the area with cold water. Make sure to use only cold water as hot water could set the stain and make it more difficult to remove.
Once the area has been rinsed, it’s time to launder the clothing item. Check garment’s care instructions to determine best washing and drying methods for that particular item. Make sure to add a stain remover or an enzyme detergent to wash cycle to help break down the mayonnaise.
After laundering, check the stained area again for any remaining stains. If the stain persists, repeat steps outlined above until the stain has been removed.
To prevent mayonnaise stains from occurring on Shantung in the future, make sure to blot up any spills as soon as they occur. Additionally, steer clear of usingmayonnaise in the vicinity of Shantung fabrics.
