Mayonnaise is a popular condiment that is used in various dishes. Unfortunately, mayonnaise can leave behind unsightly stains on your clothing. When these stains happen to be on a favorite item of yours, like a Ralph Lauren article, cleaning them as soon as possible is a must. The sooner you tackle the stain, the better chance you have of getting it out.

What You Need

  • Shout Advanced Gel Stain Remover or other stain remover such as OxiClean or Biz
  • Cold water
  • White vinegar
  • Paper towel or soft cloth
  • Dish detergent

Instructions

  1. Start by blotting the mayo stain with a paper towel or soft cloth. Gently press down onto the fabric to sop up as much mayo as you can.
  2. Once you have taken care of the excess mayo, it’s time to treat the stain. If you have a stain remover like Shout Advanced Gel or a similar product, simply apply a small amount onto the affected area and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Rinse the affected area with cold water, and if the stain remains, you can try soaking the piece in a mixture of cold water and a tablespoon of white vinegar. Let it soak for 15 minutes.
  4. Remove the piece from the mixture and rinse thoroughly with cold water. Now you can try using a bit of dish detergent on the stain and running it through the washing machine on a normal cycle.

Last Step

After the item has been through the washing machine, make sure to air dry it so the stain doesn’t set in. If you follow these steps, you should be able to get out most mayo stains from your favorite Ralph Lauren clothing items.
