What You'll Need:

  • A white cloth or towel
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Clean water

Steps to Clean the Stain

  1. Scrape off any excess mayonnaise from the pullover with the white cloth or towel.
  2. In a small bowl, mix one tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent with two cups of warm water and stir.
  3. Using the white cloth, dab the stained area with the detergent mixture and allow it to soak for five minutes.
  4. After five minutes, rinse the pullover with clean water to remove any remaining detergent.
  5. If the stain is still there, mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with one teaspoon of baking soda and two cups of warm water.
  6. Using the white cloth, apply the cleaner to the stained area.
  7. Let the cleaner sit for five minutes before rinsing with clean water.
  8. Repeat process as needed until the stain has been removed.

Tips for Prevention

  • Always keep mayonnaise away from your clothes.
  • Be sure to wipe off any excess mayonnaise that spills on your clothes with a cloth or paper towel before it has a chance to dry.
  • When washing your pullover with other items, be sure to set the washing machine to a mild cycle.
  • If the pullover is not 100% stain-free after washing, air-dry instead of using the dryer.
