If you’re like many people, you probably didn’t know that mayonnaise could be a problem for a delicate fabric like pongee. The combination of oil, vinegar, and egg whites used in mayonnaise can cause it to be a difficult stain to remove if it isn't addressed quickly.

Method 1: Wash Immediately

As soon as you realize that you have a mayonnaise stain on your pongee garment, the first step is to clean it up as quickly as possible. If the garment is machine-washable, remove any excess mayonnaise with cold running water and a damp cloth. Then, pre-soak stained area in cold water for 30 minutes and then put it in washing machine on a gentle cycle using cold water. Hang it to dry.

Method 2: Use a Detergent Soak

If the stain is really stubborn, you can use a detergent soak. To do this, fill a basin or a bucket with cold water and add 1 teaspoon of liquid detergent. Then, submerge the mayonnaise stained part of the pongee garment and let it soak for about an hour. After that, swish the garment around for a few minutes and then rinse it in cold water. Hang it to dry.

Method 3: Try a Spot Cleaner

This method is especially useful when stain is small or if the garment is not machine-washable. Dab a small amount of spot cleaner on the stained area and rub it gently. Don’t rub too hard or you might damage the fabric. Rinse with cold water and repeat if necessary. Hang it to dry.

Now you know how to get rid of mayonnaise stains on your pongee garments in no time!
