Steps to Remove the Stain
- Start by Blotting: Use a cloth to blot at the stained area to transfer as much of the mayonnaise onto the cloth as possible. Do not rub; this will push the stain deeper into the material.
- Pre-treat with Detergent: Mix a mild detergent and water together, and apply to the stained area. Give it a few minutes to soak in.
- Use a Stain Removal Product: If the stain still remains, use an appropriate stain removal product and follow manufacturer’s instructions to treat the fabric.
- Laundry Time: Wash the skirt using exact instructions for that particular fabric. Be sure to use cold water, as hot water can cause the stain to set further into the material.
- Check before Drying: Once the skirt is finished washing, check to make sure the stain has been removed. If it has, then finish the job by air drying or tumble drying the skirt.
Additional Tips and Suggestions
- If the stain persists after first attempt, try repeating process.
- Be sure to check fabric’s labels before attempting to clean it. Some fabrics, such as silk, may require special care.
- If you are out and about when you notice stain, take a wet cloth and try to wipe away as much of the mayonnaise as possible, then apply pressure to the area with a paper towel.
