Step 1: Blot Up the Excess Mayonnaise

Begin by gently blotting the area with a damp cloth to soak up any excess mayonnaise. Do not scrub or rub the fabric as this could spread stain further.

Step 2: Pre-treat with a Stain Remover

Spray the area liberally with a pre-treatment stain remover. Using an enzyme-based cleaner is best for getting rid of tough mayonnaise stains. Allow the solution to sit on the fabric for 5-10 minutes.

Step 3: Launder as Usual

Launder as you normally would, either in the washing machine or by hand. Use the temperature recommended on the care tag for the overalls. If the stain is still visible after laundering, repeat steps 1-3 until the stain is gone.

Step 4: Air Dry

Once the overalls are clean, hang them to dry in a well-ventilated area. Avoid using the dryer as high heat can set the stain.

Tips for Success

  • For stubborn stains, soak the overalls in a mixture of 1/4 cup white vinegar and 1 quart of warm water for 30 minutes prior to laundering.
  • Test a small area of overalls for colorfastness before treating the stain.
  • If possible, treat the stain immediately after it happens to prevent setting.
