The first step is to treat stain as soon as possible to ensure the mayonnaise does not set deep into the material. Start by using a dull knife or spoon to scrape off any excess mayonnaise that is on the fabric. Once the excess has been removed, use a wet cloth to dab the area with cold water.

Next, you will want to check the label of the garment to see what type of fabric it is made from. Different fabrics call for different cleaning methods, so if your Nautica clothing is made of a delicate fabric, you’ll want to be extra careful with the next step.

Prepare a cleaning solution of mild detergent and cold water. Pour solution onto the mayonnaise stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Use a toothbrush (old or new) to work the solution into the stain, scrubbing in an up-and-down, circular motion. This should help remove some of the mayonnaise.

If stain still remains, you will need to move on to plan B. Mix together one tablespoon ammonia and one cup of cold water. Using a clean cloth or sponge, apply the mixture to stain and dab it gently. Let it sit on stain for a few minutes, then rinse with cold water.

If even after all these steps the stain remains, it means it has probably set in and the best thing you can do is take your Nautica clothing item to a professional dry cleaner. They should be able to provide you with the best and safest way to get rid of the stain for good.
