Steps for Removing Mayonnaise Stains from Your Lawn

  1. Clean the area around stain with cool water. This will help loosen up the mayonnaise and make it easier to remove.
  2. Mix water and liquid dish soap together in a bucket to create a cleaning solution. You want the solution to be fairly thick, but still spreadable across the affected area.
  3. Using a sponge or cloth, apply the cleaning solution to the stained area. Gently scrub the mayonnaise into the solution until it begins to break apart.
  4. Allow the solution to sit on the affected area for 30 minutes or so. This will help the mayonnaise begin to dissolve further.
  5. Once the time is up, wipe away the solution and any remaining mayonnaise with a damp cloth or paper towel. Repeat this step as needed until the stain is gone.
  6. If the stain is still visible, you may need to get a bit more aggressive. Mix together an equal amount of white vinegar and water, then pour the solution directly onto the stain. Let it sit for 15 minutes before scrubbing it off with a dry rag.

Tips for Preventing Future Mayonnaise Stains

  • Act quickly – the sooner you clean up any spills, the less likely you are to have stains.
  • Regularly mow your lawn – tall grasses make it harder to spot any messes that may occur.
  • Be mindful when eating outside – keep food and drinks away from any delicate grasses.
  • Cover your lawn with a tarp if you’re having a picnic or hosting a party to catch any messes.
