Getting mayonnaise on a jacket can be a nightmare. Whether it's splattered from a sandwich or splashed from a jar, the creamy white condiment can leave behind a greasy mess. But don't worry - you can get rid of the stain with a few simple steps.

What You Need

  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • A few clean cloths

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Carefully scrape off any excess mayo from the fabric with a butter knife or spoon.
  2. Mix 1 tablespoon of dish soap with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide. Stir until it forms a smooth paste.
  3. Gently apply the paste onto the stained areas and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Using a clean cloth, dab off the mixture from the jacket.
  5. Rinse out the stained area with cool water to remove any soapy residue.
  6. Lay the garment flat to dry.

Keep in mind that some fabrics may be more delicate and require special attention. For wool and cashmere, dab the mixture off with a damp cloth instead of rinsing it out. For silk, try using a mild detergent instead of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. Always test cleaning solution on an inconspicuous part of the fabric first to make sure it doesn't damage it.

Once the mayonnaise stain is gone, you should treat the fabric for water and oil stains to prevent it from coming back. Dab the area with a cloth dipped in a solution of half water, half white vinegar to ensure all traces of grease are gone. Then dry it thoroughly.

Conclusion

Mayonnaise stains may seem like a daunting task, but they don't have to be. With the right materials and a little bit of patience, you can have your jacket looking like new again.
