Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Before starting the cleaning process, collect the following materials:

  • Warm water
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Clean towels
  • Cotton swabs
  • Toothbrush
  • Non-chlorine bleach

Step 2: Pre-Treat Stain

Begin by pre-treating the mayonnaise stain. Use a cotton swab to dab a mixture of warm water and liquid laundry detergent onto the area. Dry the area with a clean towel before moving on to the next step.

Step 3: Create a Vinegar Mixture

Create a mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts warm water. Soak a clean towel in this solution and wring it out slightly before placing it over mayonnaise stain.

Step 4: Apply Baking Soda

Sprinkle baking soda over the stained area. The vinegar and baking soda combination will lift mayonnaise stain off the fabric. Allow the mixture to sit for at least 15 minutes.

Step 5: Scrub the Stain

Once the baking soda has had enough time to do its job, use a toothbrush to gently scrub mayonnaise stain. Then, blot the area with a clean towel.

Step 6: Pretreat with Non-Chlorine Bleach

If the stain is still visible, pretreat the spot with a non-chlorine bleach solution. Be careful not to use too much bleach, as it can discolor your fabric. Once the area has been pretreated, allow it to sit for 30 minutes before laundering as usual.

Conclusion

Mayonnaise stains are no match for the steps outlined above. You'll have your favorite jacket back to looking like new in no time!
