Mayonnaise is a staple condiment for many, but its creamy white consistency can make it a tough stain to remove. If you’ve got a mayo stain on your hoodie, don’t panic – you can get that stain out with a few simple steps.
Instructions
- Act quickly. The sooner you address the stain, the more likely you are to be able to remove it. Rub or blot cold water over the stained area.
- Mix three parts water to one part liquid laundry detergent and apply it to the stained area.
- Gently rub the detergent solution into the fabric, then leave it for 10 minutes.
- Rinse the area with warm water, and then check to see if the stain has been removed.
- If the stain has not been eliminated, try using a mild bleach solution. Dilute bleach by mixing one part bleach to 10 parts water.
- Apply the bleach solution to the stain and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse area and check the stain again. Repeat, if necessary.
- Once the stain has been removed, wash the garment as you normally would with a laundry detergent.
Tips
- Always test your detergent and bleach solution on an inconspicuous area of the garment before applying to the stained area.
- Do not dry the garment until the stain is completely gone – the heat from the dryer could set the stain.
- Be careful not to rub stained area too harshly – this can damage the fabric.
Warning
Do not use chlorine bleach directly on wool or silk fabrics – this could damage the fabric or cause the color to fade.
