Instructions
- Soak up as much excess mayonnaise as you can using an absorbent paper towel. Work from the outside in so that the stain doesn’t spread.
- Apply a small amount of liquid detergent directly to stain. Use a soft brush to work the detergent in from edges of the stain toward the center.
- Rinse affected area of the clothing with cold water until the detergent is washed away.
- Create a mixture of white vinegar and lukewarm water. Soak stained area of clothing in this solution for 1 hour.
- Wash clothing in the washing machine as normal. Afterwards, check to ensure the mayonnaise stain has been successfully removed.
Things to Consider
- Always use cold water when cleaning mayonnaise stains from cotton twill clothing. This helps prevent the stain from seeping further into the fabric.
- Hot water or harsh scrubbing can set the stain deeper into the fabric, so try to avoid these methods.
- If the stain persists even after following the cleaning steps outlined above, try using spot treatment or liquid laundry detergent specifically designed for removing tough stains.
- Be sure to refer to the garment’s care label before applying any stain removal products, as certain fabrics may be damaged by harsh chemicals.
