Steps to Clean a Mayonnaise Stain

  1. First, blot the stain with a clean, absorbent cloth to remove as much of mayonnaise as possible.
  2. Mix together a solution of 1 part dish detergent to 2 parts cold water in a bowl or bucket.
  3. Dampen a clean cloth in the solution and dab stain with it.
  4. If necessary, repeat the previous step until mayonnaise is completely removed. Do not scrub the fabric.
  5. Once the mayonnaise is gone, rinse area with cold water.
  6. To dry garment, lay it flat in direct sunlight.

Tips for Removing Mayonnaise Stains

  • Do not use hot water, as this can cause the stain to set.
  • Do not put garment in a washing machine or dryer before the stain is completely removed.
  • If the stain will not come out with the detergent solution, try dabbing the area with rubbing alcohol.
  • If the stain persists, take garment to a professional dry cleaner.
