The first step in removing any kind of stain is to act fast. The sooner you can start tackling the stain, the better your chances of getting it out. Start by blotting the stained area with a clean cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of mayonnaise as possible.
Next, combine one part white vinegar with two parts warm water and pour it directly onto the stain. Let this solution soak into the fabric for at least 15 minutes, and then rinse area with cold water. Vinegar is a natural, pH-neutral cleaning solution that can help break down mayonnaise and other oily stains.
Once the vinegar solution is rinsed off, you can move on to using a mild detergent or laundry stain remover. Rub the detergent or stain remover firmly into fabric with a clean cloth. After a few minutes, rinse the area with cold water again.
Finally, launder the garment in the washing machine as usual. Be sure to check garment after it's been washed to make sure the stain is gone. If some of the stain remains, repeat the above steps until the stain is completely removed.
Getting rid of a mayonnaise stain doesn't have to be complicated. With these simple steps, you can quickly and easily get mayonnaise stains out of your cotton oxford fabric!
