Getting mayonnaise on Converse sneakers is not a difficult task; plus mayonnaise does not wash off easily. It’s a thick and sticky condiment, so you need to have the right technique and items to clean it off properly. Here’s how you can clean up mayonnaise messes on Converse sneakers:
What You Need
- Lukewarm Water
- Soft Cloth
- Dishwashing Detergent
- Baking Soda
- White Vinegar
Cleaning the Stain
- Act quickly and use a soft cloth to blot away as much mayo as possible.
- Make a mixture of one teaspoon of dishwashing detergent, half teaspoon of baking soda, and two tablespoons of white vinegar.
- Mix well until the detergent and baking soda dissolve completely.
- Dip a soft cloth in the mixture and dab the stained area. If stain is large or widespread, pour some of the mixture over entire stained area.
- Gently scrub the area with a soft cloth or brush in a circular motion.
- Rinse the area with lukewarm water.
- Let the Converse sneaker air dry for at least an hour.
Additional Tips
- Avoid using hot water for cleaning, as this may set the stain further.
- Make sure you use a mild detergent, preferably one designed for colorfast fabrics.
- If the area is still stained, repeat the same procedure as many times as needed.
