Accidents happen, but when an unfortunate mayo mishap results in a stained coat, it can be a bit overwhelming. How will you ever get that mayo out? Well, never fear! We have created a quick and easy guide for how to clean mayonnaise stains from your coats. By following these simple steps, you can have your coat looking brand new in no time. We recommend starting the process by acting fast. In order to remove the stain, try blotting it up with a paper towel or dry cloth. Blotting helps remove the excess mayonnaise and will prevent it from spreading. Try to avoid rubbing the area as the friction may spread the stain. Once the excess has been removed, it is time to pre-treat. Using a detergent or stain remover, work product into stained area by hand. When doing this it is important to make sure that the product you are using is safe for the fabric of your coat. We recommend to start with a little amount of detergent and work it into the stain gently with your fingertips. This will help to break up the oily consistency of the stain. Following pre-treatment, you can machine wash your coat on a cold cycle. Make sure to add some of the detergent to washing cycle to ensure the stain gets completely removed. If you prefer to hand-wash your coat, fill sink with cold water. Add some of the detergent into the water, and place your coat in the solution. Let it soak for at least 10 minutes before gently scrubbing the area. Rinse the coat well until all the soapy residue is gone. Once your coat is washed, hang it in a sunny spot to dry. The natural sunlight can help to improve the appearance of the stain and make it less visible. Inspect area once it is fully dry and repeat the process if necessary.
