Whether you’re dealing with a fresh or set-in mayonnaise stain, the first step is to remove any excess mayonnaise from the surface. Use a soft cloth or paper towel to blot up as much of stain as possible. You may find that gently scraping away any hardened bits of mayonnaise also helps.

The next step is to create a cleaning solution. You can either use a mild detergent and water mixture or a specialized leather cleaner. Test whichever solution you choose on a small, inconspicuous area of the clog first to make sure there is no discoloration or damage to the fabric. Once you’ve determined the solution is safe, you can move on to tackling the mayo stain.

To tackle the stain, dampen a clean cloth or sponge with your cleaning solution of choice. Gently rub the mayonnaise area in a circular motion until the stain is gone. Be sure not to rub too hard as this can damage the fabric. Rinse the area with clean water once you’ve removed stain.

Finally, allow the area to air-dry. If the mayonnaise stain is especially stubborn, you may need to repeat the process. Once the clog is dry, you should be good to go—no more mayo stains!
