Mayonnaise is one of most common foods that can lead to a messy stain situation. It’s certainly no fun to suffer through an embarrassing stain on your blazer when you’re out in public. Thankfully, with the right approach, it's possible to get those stains out! Here are a few steps to help you get those pesky mayonnaise stains out of your blazer.
First things first - you'll want to remove as much of the excess mayonnaise as possible. Using a paper towel or cloth, gently blot the stained area of the blazer to help absorb some of the liquid and grease. Avoid scrubbing as this could potentially spread the stain. Do this until you’ve removed as much of the mess as possible.
Once the excess mayonnaise has been removed, you’ll want to pre-treat the fabric by applying a small amount of detergent directly on the stain. Let it sit for about five minutes before moving on to the next step.
Now it’s time to machine wash the blazer. Make sure to select cold water and a gentle detergent (such as Woolite), and wash your blazer on the delicate cycle. You can also add in a color-safe bleach to help break down the stain. After washing, hang dry blazer.
Once your blazer has been washed, air dry it flat or hang it up, making sure not to expose it to direct sunlight. You should also avoid placing the blazer in the dryer as this could potentially set the stain into the fabric.
With these simple steps, you can now successfully keep your blazer looking good - and free from food-related stains. For more detailed instructions, make sure to consult your blazer’s care label.
