The first thing to do when you notice a mayonnaise stain on angora fabric is to remove the excess as soon as possible. Gently dab at the stain with a clean, damp cloth, avoiding rubbing or scrubbing the fabric. This will help keep the stain from spreading or becoming more deeply embedded into the fabric.
Next, pre-treat the stain with a mild laundry detergent that does not contain dye. Gently massage the detergent into the mayonnaise stain until it begins to foam and bubble. When finished, allow the detergent to sit on the fabric for several minutes so that it has time to penetrate the fabric and begin loosening the stain.
After the detergent has had a chance to work its magic, simply wash fabric in your washing machine according to the instructions on the label. To be safe, use cold water and a mild cycle. After the washing cycle is complete, check the fabric to make sure the stain has been successfully removed.
If the stain has not been completely removed, repeat the process of pre-treating with detergent and washing in machine. You may also wish to try an oxygen-based stain remover (such as OxiClean) for stubborn mayonnaise stains. Simply follow the instructions on the package.
Stains on angora fabric require special attention to ensure that the fabric doesn’t become damaged in the process of removing the stain. Following these simple steps will help you get mayonnaise stains out of your angora fabric quickly and easily.
