Materials Needed

  • Fabric stain remover spray, such as Shout Advanced Trigger Spray
  • A bristled brush
  • Soft cloth
  • Cup filled with warm water

Steps to Clean Mascara Stains from Wedges

  1. Spray the stained area. Generously apply fabric stain remover spray to the area. Make sure to completely cover stain in cleaning agent.
  2. Let the spray soak in. Allow the spray to sit for five minutes to give the cleaning agent enough time to break down the stain.
  3. Scrub the area with the bristled brush. Using a circular motion, gently scrub the stained area with the brush. Make sure not to apply too much pressure so as to preserve the wedge material.
  4. Rinse the area with warm water. Dip a soft cloth in warm water and carefully rinse area until all of the foam from the fabric cleaner is gone.
  5. Allow the wedges to air dry. Once you’ve removed all of the foam, set the wedges in a well-ventilated space and allow them to dry thoroughly.

Tips for Removing Mascara Stains

  • If stains are particularly stubborn, repeat steps 1-5.
  • For particularly light-colored wedges, always test a small amount of fabric cleaner on an unnoticeable area of shoe first.
  • Be sure to leave the wedges in a well-ventilated area after going through the cleaning process, as the smell of the fabric cleaner could linger.
