Being a makeup enthusiast means you don’t mind getting your hands dirty – sometimes literally! If you’ve ever been a victim of a runaway mascara wand, however, you know that mascara stains can be a real pain to remove. As anyone who has tried to deal with a mascara stain on voile knows, it can seem impossible to erase. But don’t worry - taking the right steps can make cleaning mascara stains from voile a breeze.

Step 1: Identify the Type of Mascara Used

The type of mascara used will have a big impact on the type of cleaning solution you select. Waterproof mascaras are much harder to remove than regular ones, so it’s important to identify which one you’re working with. If possible, check the label on bottle; waterproof mascaras will usually say so on the package.

Step 2: Blot and Absorb Excess Product

As soon as you realize you have a mascara stain, you’ll want to start blotting the area to remove as much product as possible. Lay a clean white cloth over area, and then gently press down to absorb product. You shouldn’t rub the fabric or use a colored cloth, as these can cause the stain to spread or set in. Keep blotting with a clean section of the cloth until no more product can be absorbed.

Step 3: Choose the Right Cleaning Supplies

Once you’ve blotted the excess product away, it’s time to choose the appropriate cleaning supplies. If you’re dealing with a regular mascara, you can use a fabric stain remover or a gentle detergent. For waterproof mascaras, you may need to use a stronger cleaning agent, such as an oxygenated bleach cleaner. Read product labels carefully and make sure you select one that is safe for use on voile fabric.

Step 4: Apply the Cleaner to the Stain

Once you’ve chosen appropriate cleaning product, it’s time to apply it to the affected area. Make sure to follow the instructions on the product label; some cleaners need to be diluted in water, while others must be applied directly. Once the cleaner has been applied, allow it to sit for the amount of time recommended on the instructions before rinsing.

Step 5: Rinse and Dry the Fabric

When the recommended time is up, rinse the fabric with cold water to remove the cleaner. Gently blot the area with a clean white cloth to remove any excess moisture. Once the fabric is dry, check the area to make sure the stain is gone. If it’s still visible, you may need to repeat the process.

Removing mascara stains from voile doesn’t have to be a challenge. With the right advice and cleaning supplies, you can easily get rid of those pesky mascara stains and restore your fabric to its original beauty.
