Step 1: Soaking the Tights

The first step in the process is to soak your tights in warm water. Fill a sink or bucket with warm water and add a teaspoon of liquid detergent. Swish the tights around in the warm water for a few minutes before leaving them to soak for at least 30 minutes.

Step 2: Washing the Tights

When the tights have finished soaking, you can wash them in the washing machine. Add a small amount of laundry detergent to the machine, put the tights in, and set it to a gentle cycle. Wash the tights with other dark-colored clothing so that the colors don’t run.

Step 3: Drying the Tights

Once the tights are washed, you can dry them. The best way to do this is to hang them up to air-dry. Avoid putting them in the tumble dryer as this may make the stains worse. If you must put them in the dryer, set it to a low heat setting.

Step 4: Doing a Spot Treatment

Once your tights are dry, you may still need to do a spot treatment to get rid of any remaining stains. Try using a stain remover or rubbing alcohol on the affected area. Let it sit on the stain for a few minutes before washing the tights one more time.

Tips for Preventing Mascara Stains

  • Always check your mascara wand before using it.
  • Keep your mascara wand away from your tights.
  • If you get mascara on your skin, wipe it off right away.
  • Wash your tights regularly.
