Mascara has a tendency to leave behind stubborn stains on clothes, floors, walls and even your beautiful pumps. But not to fear! With the right supplies and few simple steps, you'll be able to remove your mascara stains without damaging your pumps.
Steps for Removing Mascara Stains from Pumps
- Gently remove any excess mascara. Start by gently scraping away any remaining excess mascara from the affected area of the pump using a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid scrubbing too hard as this could cause damage.
- Prepare some soap solution. Mix a few drops of laundry detergent with warm water and stir until combined. You can also use a mild cleaning detergent if you prefer.
- Dab the stain with the soap solution. Dip a clean cloth or sponge into the prepared soap solution and dab stained area until the stain starts to fade. Make sure not to rub the stain as this could cause it to spread.
- Rinse off any residue. Once you've dabbed away the excess mascara, take a damp cloth and wipe off any remaining soap residue from the affected area. Be sure to rinse the cloth thoroughly after each wipe.
- Air dry. Leave your pumps to air dry in a cool, dry place where they won't be disturbed. Avoid using an artificial heat source to speed up the drying process as this could cause damage.
Tips for Avoiding Mascara Stains
- Always store your mascara upright. When you're storing your mascara, make sure to keep it standing upright in a cool, dry place. This will help reduce the chances of stains forming from dripping.
- Apply in moderation. Make sure to apply your mascara in moderation so it won't drip onto your pumps. Too much mascara can increase chances of staining.
- Clean up immediately. If you do happen to get mascara on your pumps, make sure to clean it up immediately. The longer you leave it, the harder it will be to remove.
