What You'll Need

  • White cotton cloth
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Oxygen bleach

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Before you do anything else, it's important to take a clean white cotton cloth and gently blot the stain. This will help to remove as much of the excess mascara as possible. Be careful not to rub the fabric too vigorously, as this may cause it to fray or loosen fibers.

Step 2: Make a Cleaning Solution

Next, you should mix one teaspoon of liquid detergent with four cups of warm water to create a cleaning solution. You can use a spray bottle to make sure the solution is evenly distributed over the stain. Let the solution soak into the stain for about 15 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse and Blot

After the solution has had time to soak in, it's time to rinse the fabric. Use a wet cloth to wipe away the detergent and water, then blot the area to remove any remaining residue. Now you're ready to move on to the next step!

Step 4: Apply Oxygen Bleach

Once the area is rinsed and blotted, it's time to apply the oxygen bleach. This is an effective way to remove stubborn mascara stains from fabrics. Simply mix one tablespoon of oxygen bleach with two cups of warm water and use a spray bottle to apply it to the stain. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes before rinsing.

Step 5: Wash as Usual

After stain has been treated with the oxygen bleach, it's time to give the fabric a regular wash. If possible, it's best to use a gentle cycle on the washing machine to ensure that the fabric isn't damaged. Once the cycle is finished, you can hang the pullover up to dry.

Conclusion

Getting mascara stains out of pullovers can be a hassle, but it doesn't have to be. With the right materials and some patience, you can easily remove the stains and get your pullover looking good as new!
