Time is of the essence when it comes to treating a mascara stain. If you can, take action right away so that the stain doesn’t have a chance to set. The sooner you act, the better your results will be.
When treating a mascara stain, it’s important to remember never to rub the fabric. Rubbing the stain will just cause it to spread and make it more difficult to remove. Instead, you should blot the stain gently with a soft dry cloth.
Once you’ve finished blotting stain, you should pretreat the area with a liquid laundry detergent or spot remover. Spray or apply product to the stained area and allow it to sit for a few minutes before proceeding.
After pretreating the stain, fill a sink or bucket with cold water and add a few drops of mild liquid detergent. Soak the stain for about 15 minutes, and then rinse the item in cold water to remove any excess detergent.
Once you’ve finished soaking and rinsing the garment, launder it as you normally would. This includes selecting the right water temperature for the fabric type, as well as using the appropriate wash cycle and detergent. Hang up to dry.
