What You'll Need:
Fill a tub or bowl with warm water and mix in a few drops of liquid soap. Dip the muslin cloth into solution and swish it around for a few moments. Allow the muslin cloth to rest in the water for about 10 minutes. Remove the cloth from the water and wring out the excess liquid. Gently scrub affected area with a microfiber cloth. It is important to be gentle when scrubbing as muslin is very delicate and can be easily ripped or torn. Rinse the muslin cloth in warm water and hang dry.
What You'll Need:
Make a paste by combining equal parts baking soda and white vinegar. Apply the paste to the stained area and rub it in with a toothbrush. Allow the paste to sit on the muslin fabric for 10-15 minutes. Rinse the muslin fabric in warm water until all of paste has been removed. Hang to dry.
If you don't have any baking soda or white vinegar then you can try using a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and lemon juice. The lemon juice will help to remove the mascara and the hydrogen peroxide will help to brighten the muslin.
It is also important to be sure to read the care instructions on the muslin fabric before attempting to remove the stain. Some fabrics are not made to be washed in water or exposed to certain cleaning agents.
