The best way to start is by using blotting or a stain remover. Blotting helps you remove bulk of the mascara without making too much of a mess. Most people recommend using a dry cloth for this. If the stain is more stubborn, try using a liquid stain remover.
If the stain is still present, you should pre-treat it. You can mix a quarter-sized amount of a detergent with a cup of warm water. Blot some of this solution onto the stained area, then allow it to sit for 15 minutes. Afterward, rinse the spot with cold water and repeat until all the stain is gone.
Finally, put the item in the washing machine and wash it on a cold cycle. Be sure to use a detergent that’s specifically designed for delicate fabrics, and avoid using any bleach or fabric softeners. Afterward, hang it up to dry and check to make sure the stain has been completely removed.
These three steps should get any mascara stain out of your linen item. With the right products and a bit of patience, you can have your favorite items looking as good as new in no time!
