Mascara stains can happen when you least expect them – your face mask fogs up or wind blows your mascara in the wrong direction. No matter how they got there, they can be difficult to remove without ruining your Irish crochet. Here are some tips to help you clean mascara stains off your Irish crochet:

  • Gently wipe away the excess with a damp, soft cloth.
  • Mix two parts hydrogen peroxide with one part baking soda and make a paste. Gently work the paste into the stain, then rinse with room temperature water.
  • You can also use a mild detergent solution. Dilute a small amount of detergent in warm water and spot-treat the stain gently. Rinse with cool water afterward.
  • If the stain is still present after these methods, you can try using a teaspoon of white vinegar mixed with 3 tablespoons of warm water. Again, gently rub into the stain and rinse with cool water.
  • Lay your piece flat to dry and avoid direct sunlight.

If all else fails, you may need to contact a professional cleaner for delicate fabrics such as Irish crochet. They will have more knowledge and experience in caring for these precious pieces.
