No matter if your stain is new or has been set in for some time, there are a few household items you can use to tackle the problem. For starters, use a flat, white cloth (an old pillowcase will do) and a mild soap such as laundry detergent, hair shampoo, or specialized laundry soap. Gently dab the stain with a dampened corner of the white cloth and apply a bit of soap. Rub the fabric with a gentle circular motion until the stain lifts out of the material.
If stain is extra stubborn, you may need a few additional ingredients. Mix together four parts baking soda to one part liquid dishwashing soap and apply this mixture to the stain. Leave it for several minutes before blotting it with another damp cloth. Afterward, sprinkle the stained area with table salt and leave for a few hours to soak up any remaining residue. Afterward, vacuum up the salt before rinsing and washing the fabric as usual.
Cleaning delicate fabrics such as Duchesse lace requires special attention and care. Taking these extra steps can ensure your fabrics remain beautiful and stain-free for years to come.
