Materials needed:

  • A damp cloth
  • Mild soap solution
  • Water
  • Mild detergent or stain remover

Steps:

  1. Start by blotting the stain with a damp cloth. Be sure to press the cloth onto the mascara stain but do not rub it in as this will only make the stain worse.
  2. Once you have blotted away as much of the stain as possible, create a mild soap solution using a small amount of mild soap and water. Mix the two together and then use a clean cloth to apply solution to stain. Again, try to avoid rubbing the solution into down jacket material as this could damage fabric.
  3. Leave the soap solution on the stain for around 10 minutes before rinsing off the solution with cold water.
  4. If the stain is still present, apply a mild detergent or stain remover directly to the stain and leave for another 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Do not use hot water as this could cause the stain to set.
  5. To finish, place your down jacket in a washing machine and wash according to the instructions.

Tips:

  • Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals on your down jacket as this could cause discoloration or damage the fabric.
  • Always test products on an inconspicuous area of the garment before applying it to the stain.
  • Once the stain is gone, air dry your down jacket away from direct sunlight.
