Step 1: Pre-treat the Stain

The first step in removing a mascara stain from cotton twill is to pre-treat the stain. To do this, make a solution of 1 teaspoon of clear liquid dishwashing detergent and ½ cup of white vinegar mixed together with 1 quart of warm water. Dip a clean cloth into the solution and dab the stained area lightly. Do not rub the stain, as this could spread it!

Step 2: Wash the Item

After pre-treatment, you can put item of clothing into the washing machine. Use the hottest water setting appropriate for the fabric and add a quality detergent. If possible, hang the garment up to dry naturally.

Step 3: Treat the Stain Again if Necessary

If the stain is still visible after washing, you may need to treat it one more time. Make a paste of 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1/4 cup of water, and spread the paste over the stained area. Let the paste sit for 30 minutes, then rinse it out with cold water. If stain is gone, launder the garment again and hang to dry.

Conclusion

By following these three simple steps, you can easily get rid of mascara stains from cotton twill fabric. With just a bit of elbow grease, you’ll be able to enjoy your favorite clothes without the unsightly marks!
